Something I see bass players do often when they slap, is to use a common rhythm or in musical terms an ostinato. The definition of an ostinato is “a continually repeated musical phrase or rhythm”. Along with the ostinato there will often be other permutations and creative phrases to make it interesting and keep the listener from getting board by an identical line repeating over and over.
This study consists of two bar phrases in which the first of the two would be the ostinato phrase, ( “I refer to this as the anchor”) and the second would be a creative phrase.
